HOW LLOYDS TSB CAN HELP YOU

Lloyds TSB provides all franchisees that open an account with a named Business Manager with direct telephone access to your business banking team. Our range of telephone, PC and Internet banking services allows you to quickly access account information and basic services. You can register for free text alerts to receive account updates sent directly to your mobile phone.

We have business bankers in all our local business centres and most branches. Our managers help around 100,000 new businesses every year. Our dedicated team of franchising experts are available to support you and our network of business managers to ensure that we provide you with sound guidance to help you achieve your business objectives.

If you’re starting out in franchising our business account package will give you the best possible start. You will benefit from our 18 months free banking offer** on day to day transactions. All we ask is that you keep your account within agreed limits, for example not going overdrawn without agreeing with us first. We do not pay credit interest during the free banking period.

FRANCHISEE CHECKLIST

Before deciding whether franchising is the right step for you it will be advisable to carry out careful research. Attending a bfa franchisee or franchisor seminar and purchasing their guide is a good starting point. It is essential that you receive expert support from a bank that has a specialist franchise department as they can offer practical guidance and impartial advice.

Before you start, we can give you details of where to get help and guidance from consultants, lawyers and accountants who specialise in franchising. For a full list of professionals affiliated to the bfa visit their web site www.thebfa.org or contact us for an introduction to the appropriate professional advisor.

The bank assesses, reviews and monitors the major franchise opportunities operating in the UK and our franchise experts are available to discuss any aspect of franchising with you.

FINDING FINANCE

We offer financial support to both franchisors and franchisees. Lloyds TSB provides a range of flexible loans, overdrafts* and other financial solutions which can help you take your business forward. We can fund your requirements at preferential rates usually up to a maximum of 70% of the start up costs, including any working capital requirement subject to the strength of the business proposal and status*.

If you are looking to develop your existing business through franchising we can consider financial support subject to the strength of the business proposal and status* to assist with the development costs and pilot operation. When you are ready to launch the franchise opportunity we can develop a banking services and finance package to provide prospective franchisees with the support they need to invest in the franchise.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT TYPE OF BUSINESS

Be honest with yourself – do you have the right skills and attributes to successfully run your own business. Running any business takes a great deal of self-motivation, discipline, tenacity and hard work. Franchising is not right for everyone. For people who value independence or want to run a business without restrictions or to re-invent the wheel, franchising might not be the right option.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT TYPE OF FRANCHISE

The franchise relationship must be built based upon mutual trust and respect. Anyone considering investing in a franchise must be prepared to ask some probing questions of the franchisor. Their responses will assist you in deciding whether the franchise is right for you. Contact the Lloyds TSB Franchise Unit for a list of key questions you should ask.
