An effective response to customer needs helped Wiltshire Farm Foods, into bronze place in last month’s British Franchise Association (bfa) Franchisor of the Year Awards.
The aim of the awards, which are sponsored by Express Newspapers and HSBC, is to acknowledge the achievements of those franchisors that successfully secured ‘today’s foundations for tomorrow’s success’; this year’s awards theme.
With the UK now in recession for the first time since 1991, the last 12 months have proved particularly testing for many businesses. Wiltshire Farm Foods, a supplier of food for the elderly, responded to the challenge by taking a proactive approach.
Director Ben Haynes explained: “We listened to feedback from our customers who wanted a ‘lighter bite’ offering, which led to the launch of a range of mini meals. We are also developing a broader range of community events to help reinforce loyalty and word-of-mouth recommendation, which remains our primary vehicle for generating custom.”
In the current economic climate the company’s efforts are focused on developing an even stronger service proposition through enhancements such as providing greater flexibility on deliveries and offering a broader choice of products.
Mr Haynes added: “Winning the bronze award recognises the effort of every driver who has not only delivered meals, but made a positive difference to the lives of the thousands of elderly people that we serve every week.”
Nine franchises had been shortlisted as finalists, with Countrywide Grounds Maintenance taking the Gold Award and TaxAssist Accountants taking Silver. GreenThumb collected the Express Newspapers Brand Builder Award and Home Instead Senior Care was presented with the HSBC Award for Enterprise.
