He chose the oven cleaning franchise from his shortlist of seven possible opportunities, seeing it as the best fit for him.

“I didn’t want a desk based job; I understood how the business model operated, and I was comfortable with the level of investment required. Above all, I was convinced that Ovenclean had the potential to generate a good living as well and a better work/life balance,” said Mr Walshe.

He launched his business at the beginning of September and says that although it is still early days, he is well ahead of schedule.

“I’m around ten per cent ahead of the target figures in my business plan for appointments, and 15 per cent ahead on income, so I’m feeling very positive,” he added.
