The Gateshead-based leather repair and restoration specialist, Furniture Clinic, has 17 franchises operating across the UK, including one in Epping in Essex, run by former property developer Mike Browne.

He launched his business in January 2009, employs two full time members of staff, and is moving into a new workshop.

He said: “I initially contacted Furniture Clinic because I was about to purchase a Range Rover with worn leather upholstery. After speaking to them I began to realise that there could be huge potential for a leather repair business.

“Most of my work comes from the public via repeat business and customer recommendations, but I am taking more of a management role in the business and looking to secure more work from insurance companies, furniture shops, and car dealerships.”

Furniture Clinic is recruiting franchisees nationwide.
