FORMER financial manager Duncan Chandler was devastated at being made redundant for the second time at the end of last year.
At the age of 50 he couldn’t face the turmoil of moving back to London to find another job, nor the possibility of being made redundant for a third time two or three years down the line.

Instead, he decided to invest his redundancy money in something he really wanted to do and bought an Ovenclean franchise.
He said: “I could see the potential marketplace and understood how the business model worked. It was certainly not an overnight decision, but I felt that this franchise offered me the best chance of success, and so far I’ve been delighted with the results.”

Following two weeks of training, Mr Chandler launched his franchise in March this year. He booked 70 customers over his first weekend of trading, and says new business has continued to flow in.
He added: “I have found a business that delivers flexibility, control and job satisfaction. I also feel more secure than I did in employment and happier about my future.”
