He said: “Impending legislation in Europe meant that it had to be non-toxic and could not contain the very lethal ethylene glycol commonly found in existing tyre sealants.  It also had to defy all the rules of physics; in order to be effective the sealant had to cover the whole of the inside of the tyre rather than being driven to the centre by centrifugal forces, as normally happens.”

The business has been growing rapidly and in order to meet increasing customer demand from both the domestic and trade sectors, Puncturesafe is recruiting a network of franchisees.

Mr Ames said: “The success of the product can be measured in repeat orders, which is encouraging franchisees to sign up for their exclusive postcode regions at the rate of six a month.”
