THE scariest thing about starting your own business is surviving the first few months, and then the first year. But according to leather repair and restoration franchise Furniture Clinic, based on Tyne & Wear, it doesn’t always have to be like that.
Managing director Keith Staerck said: “So far we have set up 11 franchisees and given each one between 15 and 25 jobs, depending on the area, to contact from day one. This guarantee’s a franchisee a flying start and a healthy cash flow.”
Franchisees also receive a six month supply of products as part of the £7,000 start up cost to keep overheads down in the first half year of business.
Epping franchisee Mike Browne said: “It’s great to have a large number of jobs to do when you first start off. It boosted my confidence and further expanded on the training I had been given. This is crucial as the last thing you want is to have no work for a few weeks and start to forget or lose the confidence in what you were trained to do.”
