SOME businesses are thriving in the recession, including leading online tyres retailer etyres.
Because people are hanging on to their old vehicles there is constant demand for replacement tyres. And because etyres operates a mobile fitting service, with lower overheads, it can offer prices that are up to 40 per cent cheaper than leading high street depots.
Steve Haston, who has been running the Falkirk branch with his business partner Darren MacKenzie for four years, said: “The recession is definitely bringing more business. People are turning to the internet to find the best deals and that is leading them to us.”
The etyres website is a big hit with customers and features TV presenters Eamonn Holmes and Vicki Butler-Henderson explaining the ordering process and the cost savings.
Orders are taken online or through the national call centre and carried out by a network of franchisees who provide a local mobile tyre fitting service.
Start up costs are £35,000, including full training and support, and key areas are still available. etyres is a full member of the British Franchise Association.
